In 1966, a group of Adventist professional and business people (hence the name Professional & Business Association – PBA) initiated a program whereby churches and schools within the Georgia-Cumberland Conference could be built without needing to pay the high mortgage interest rates and accompanying fees charged by banks and lending institutions.
Since that time, almost all of Georgia-Cumberland Conference churches have taken advantage of the resources provided by PBA for the construction or renovation of their facilities. New land, and even formerly owned facilities, have been purchased with PBA’s low interest loans. Some of these churches have also benefited by direct contributions made possible by the interest earned.
For a number of years PBA has also helped fund the Conference’s Magabook program from interest earned. This is an evangelistic, publishing, outreach ministry where young people can sell Adventist books and literature, earning scholarships towards their university tuition. PBA has given $90,000 each of the last two years to fund those scholarships.
Currently, more than 60 churches have mortgage loans provided by PBA’s investors. PBA’s current assets total over $20 million. PBA is a growing lay organization that utilizes assets from its investors to participate and facilitate Kingdom growth. PBA is a great way for anyone to use their assets to further God’s work.
